Jyo Nigiri-zushi 7 Shu – 7 Types of Special Hand-made Sushi (RM 110)

People and People (PNP) offers traditional Japanese carefully prepared by a renowned chef to transform each dish with creative flair in his choice of ingredients and selective cuts of the finest produce. The spiritual essence of traditional Japanese cuisine is fully preserved yet enhanced with his maestro touch.

Personally I’m never a huge fan of eating raw fish and seafood but I was convinced by the chef’s professionalism and food quality to give a try. Needless to say I helped myself with a few pieces and indulged it. One of the nigiri sushi I’ve got to highlight is the soyu maguro, tuna marinated overnight in soy sauce giving it a whole different level.

Take Sashimi 5 Shu – 5 Types of Fresh Raw Fish (RM 110)

The chef also incorporate aesthetic elements of arrangement and presentation as practiced in Ikebana (Art of flower arrangement) to produce a 5-Star presentation.

Ultimately, guests will revel in a dining experience that is a feast fit for a king. I mean, how often do you see sushi beautifully plated like that?😍😍

Salmon Aburi Maki – Torched Salmon Roll (RM 38)

This was one of the few memorable dishes I had throughout dining here, I really enjoyed the lightly charred flavors on the salmon. Highly recommended!💖

43378488_10216184258854710_6322345499282112512_n
Kani Chawan Mushi – Crab Steamed Egg Custard (RM 18)

Generous amount of crab meat topped on the creamy egg custard. The crab meat was simply sensational and barely rubbery. I could help myself with another one or two!

Karai Kasen Udon – Spicy Seafood Udon Thick Wheat Noodles (RM 35)

Perfect dish to warm your insides! Obsess with the chewy udon noodles soaked in the rich flavorful spicy broth. It wasn’t too spicy for me, so I had it all bottoms up.😋 Everything about this dish was so spectacular, another highly recommended dish.🍜

43485825_10216184267174918_4716750165552136192_n
Kurogama Ice – Black Sesame Ice Cream (RM 12)

Green tea ice cream is overrated and almost everywhere but finding REALLY GOOD black sesame ice cream is tougher. Nutty richness of the black sesame was intensely decadent. It wasn’t too sweet and the red bean paste complemented the ice cream admirably.

43510926_10216184266134892_2507519336105639936_n
Yuzu Sorbet – Citrus Fruit Sorbet (RM 12)

Simply refreshing and delightful yuzu sorbet that refreshes the palate after a heavy meal. It was so irresistibly tasty to have with citrusy-floral essence of the fruit.

43439924_10216184266734907_5050370962973786112_n
Mochi Ice – Japanese Mochi Ice Cream (RM 15)

Soft chewy mochi bursting with black sesame ice cream inside! If you’d like to have black sesame with some texture then you should totally give this a try.

43404786_10216184267494926_7263702992266723328_n
Chi-zu Stikku Ice – Cheese Stick Ice Cream (RM 18)

By far my favorite dessert here! Thinly shelled cheesy-licious ice cream. It was like having cheesecake in one bite: creamy, rich and savory.❤

At PNP Japanese Cuisine Artistry, they elevate the joy of fine Japanese dining to new heights of passion with a creative approach. Visually, the dishes will be a feast for the eyes and food for the soul.

Psst! There will be an exclusive group of traditional Japanese dancers who will provide twice nightly performances on weekends. This is the first restaurant in Malaysia to host this!

ViolaflowerCafe at Bukit Jalil

Food ○ Coffee ○ Tea ○ Dessert

As thrilled as I am to have Pavilion Bukit Jalil to be up, barely a month old Violaflower Cafe, serving Yōshoku (Western-styled Japanese cuisine) marks its spot just across the building site. You’ll be greeted with the flowery and cozy ambiance upon stepping out from the elevator.

33814930_10215226403068914_1521965414169444352_n

33923274_10215226405028963_3021986560523370496_n

The floor-to-ceiling window brings in great amount of natural lighting into the cafe making it the next insta-worthy spot in this area. Settings are simply engaging, perfect date spot for the ladies and couples.

Gyu Kimchi Salada – (RM 22.80)

The sirloin strip makes it an ideal for a quick and healthy lunch, such as this warm salad. Got to love the decent amount of heat from the kimchi as well, so flavorful and simply delicious.

Note: Sirloin strip could be replaced with chicken if it does not meet your dietary restrictions!

33848385_10215226414389197_4949566731916935168_n
Okonomiyaki Omelette – (RM 23.80)

I’d highly recommend this for brunch. The okonomiyaki-styled egg beautifully topped with bonito flakes were fluffy and delish. Pumpkin korokke was something refreshing instead of using potatoes and the chicken skewers were pretty flavorful.

Tori Mentai Pizza – (RM 20.80)

This has to be one of my favorite dish! You got to have this piping hot when its served right away before the crust turns soggy from all the sweet amount of toppings.
Trust me, you’ll be hooked.👅

Salmon Mentai Miso Pasta – (RM 22.80)

Salmon was cooked to perfection, the pasta was good and cream sauce was rather interesting as there was a slight twist to it by adding some mentaiko sauce and miso paste in it.

34017440_10215226410829108_4665076168473444352_n
Tilapia Teriyaki Pasta – (RM 22.80)

I’ve got the admit the chef knows how to work its way with both salmon and tilapia. Lol,  it looked like chicken at first sight though! Not a huge fan of tilapia because it often has that earthy (‘muddy taste’) flavors that turns me off but this tilapia fillet barely has a hint of earthiness making it so enjoyable. I’d recommend this pasta dish in their menu.

Kichitori Rice Bowl – (RM 18.80)

Who wouldn’t love rice bowls? Because I flippin’ do! It was really hearty and chicken was amazingly cooked. 100% a mouthful of comfort.😊😊

Tokusei Curry Rice topped with Omu Egg – (RM 18.80)

Grab your knife and slice through the top of the omelette from one end to the other, one of the trending food porn dishes are available right here! This will definitely satisfy your cravings. I’m obsessed with their curry.🍛

Teba Karaage (RM 15.80 / 3 pieces)

Crispy, succulent golden brown chicken wings! There’s two flavors to choose from: Niniku Garlic or Korean Spicy. You’ve got to go for both flavors for just an additional RM 1

NOTE: If you’re not sure what to order from their menu, SURPRISE YOURSELF! You know how us girls can never give a specific answer when it comes to “What to eat?”🙄, get a dice from their service crew and let it roll to the number. Please don’t tell them you don’t like that number and choose to roll again, just let the professionals do their job.🤦

Poppukon Latte – (RM 14.80)

Instead of having your regular latte, why not dazzle it with some caramel-drizzled popcorn? Don’t leave your popcorn hanging for too long to avoid eating them soggy.

Americano – (RM 9.80)

Got to give props to the owner of this cafe for putting details into it. Would to return a smile to that adorable hedgehog?

Miss Pink – (RM 17.80)

If you’re not a caffeine person, you should totally go for this drink!

My first thought on it, it’s going to be ridiculously sweet from the amount of strawberry syrup at the bottom of the bottle but after shaking it all evenly, it tasted really refreshing.

You get that nice tanginess from the yogurt and sweetness from the strawberry.

Would totally recommend ordering this to go for.

Portion wise is pretty decent, not too heavy nor little.
Some dishes may be a little small but at least you’ll get the best of both.😛
Anyways, here’s a quick peek on some of the dishes from their menu!

30727290_10214910960583049_4659309930065428480_n
EB16 – Pork Katsu (Deep-fried Pork Cutlet)

Personally I’d recommend these few dishes; the Buta Kakuni (Stewed Pork Belly) was ridiculously flavorful also has a perfectly balanced sweet and savory flavor to it. Not so Japanese, but it doesn’t matter!😂 Most importantly its super soft in texture. The Pork Katsu (Deep-fried Pork Cutlet) was crispy and golden brown outside, tender and juicy within. Ebi Teppan (Pan-fried Prawn with Garlic Butter Sauce) will definitely be loved by ones who enjoy garlicky dishes. Their Salmon Teriyaki (Grilled Salmon with Teriyaki Sauce) and Wakadori Karaage (Deep-fried Marinated Chicken) aren’t too bad as well, that’s if you don’t mind the portion.

You should consider bringing your friends, family and even your colleagues over here for lunch! To spill the beans, there might be a really special promo happening on their restaurant’s anniversary and you wouldn’t want to miss it!🤫

Cafe 1986 at Bandar Ambang, Botanic Klang

“A place that provide wholesome recipe for great living.”

IMG-20171201-WA0050-01

IMG-20171201-WA0051-01

Cafe 1986 offers a fantastic blend of both Western and Asian flavors with an à la mode twist. The cafe was founded by a group of friends who were born in the 80s and they’re passionate about giving warm hospitality, comfort food and living a healthy lifestyle.

Recently the cafe had a major makeover giving a much more vibrant vibes and dazzling ambiance to their regulars and newcomers or perhaps you could say a cafe without that overrated hipster settings.

Service is above and beyond, don’t fret to let them know if you’ve got any dietary restrictions. Food were served piping hot and thumping portions but it may take some time as they want to ensure it is served with quality.

20171201_143946-01
Egg Mayo Sandwich (RM 8.50)

Beautiful thin-crusted, light-textured ciabatta bread which is simply perfect for breakfast or brunch. To me, egg mayo has to be one of the greatest sandwich fillings of all time. It is simple yet creamily comforting, but substantial enough to satisfy.

20171201_133742-01
Crispy Chicken Ciabatta with Sweet Potato Fries (RM 13.90)

If you’d prefer something heavier and a more filling sandwich, give this a go. One of their signature dishes serving with ciabatta bread as well, the sliced buttered chicken was really well marinated and I really enjoyed that crunch when having the first bite. Wasabi mayo was really refreshing and the flavor lifts up this sandwich. The sweet potato fries were healthily delicious! It really brings out the inherent sweetness from the potato. You could order them as sides too!

20171201_132723-01
Balsamic Mushroom (RM 10)

As divine as it smells, careful when you give it a sniff as the balsamic hits you in the nostril really hard. The mushrooms were tender and well infused with an intense, slightly sweet and tangy flavor to it.

20171201_140623-01
BBQ Pork Chop (RM 15)

It wasn’t my expectation at all from what I’ve seen on the menu! The aglio olio was nicely sauteed and the grilled marinated pork chop was simply mind-boggling. It was a beautiful thick-cut that was really moist and tender, the home-made barbecue sauce was then again isn’t overrated and I really love how black pepper coarse were added in it giving a hot, biting and very pungent taste.

20171201_133034-01
Smoked Duck Breast (RM19.90)

Served with aglio olio as well, the smoked duck was sublime. The meat was silky and tender with a nice smokiness to it that doesn’t overpower perfectly paired with mixed berries sauce. As for the grilled potato wedges, it was fluffy on the inside. I kind of like how it’s served with alfalfa too! A recommended dish but I personally preferred the Pork Chop.😜

20171201_141218-01
Teriyaki Chicken Rice (RM 16)

Another strongly recommended dish, meat dishes served in this cafe were definitely astounding. Chicken was beautifully glazed with the shiny, flavorful teriyaki sauce sprinkled with sesame. The marinated soft boiled egg or ajitsuke tamago, was perfectly cooked. It was still runny in the middle and whites were solid. This is definitely a fantastic rice dish for rice lovers!

Hawaii Burger (RM 12.90)

This sweet, savory and juicy Hawaiian Burger made with perfectly butter grilled pineapple, homemade pork patty, melted cheddar cheese, caramelized onions, coral lettuce and sliced tomatoes. It is truly a delicious combo that tasted absolutely sensational.

20171201_141536-01
Caesar Salad (RM 9)

It makes a wonderful light meal on its own although the salad was usual but what matters most were the freshness where you get the nice crisp from the greens.
It would be nice if there’s add-on to it.

20171201_150018-01
Homemade Bread & Butter Pudding (RM 9)

There is nothing quite like the love of mum with warm bread and butter pudding as a cosy, comforting dessert. It may be old fashioned, but it has remained a favorite to many. Cafe 1986’s bread and butter pudding isn’t any ordinary pudding but a recipe that has been carried down for over 30 years with quite a history behind it and was still well preserved till this very day.
You will not be disappointed.

20171201_142627-01
Ice Cream Waffle served with Earl Grey Ice Cream (RM 15.50)

You may or may not know that I’m obsessed with anything Earl Grey. Especially when it’s ice cream, it’s my 101 favorite. It’s light, simple yet refreshing, the waffle was crispy and slightly fluffy on the inside plus its loaded with fresh strawberries and bananas!

Cafe 1986 will be starting the New Year’s with their menu fully revamped and I can’t wait to try more of their food!

Saturday Japanese Buffet Dinner at Kin No Uma, Palace of the Golden Horses

If you’re looking for a quiet yet calm and cosy Japanese dining spot for your friends and family during the weekends, Kin No Uma is the place for you. The ambiance of the restaurant was still the same as almost a decade ago as per what I could remember.

To spark your appetite, check out their sushi and sashimi station! There’s quite a varietal of sushis to start with.

The Whisky Society 2017

This year’s The Whisky Society isn’t only about whisky but also SPIRITS such as rum, gin, sake and much more! With 20 brands serving over 50 variants, the event also expanded the space to 2 floors with garden access, food trucks and extended the festival time from 2pm to 10pm on a Saturday so that everyone can come over and sip throughout the day.

The concept of the festival was simple: a tasting glass will be given upon entry and simply approach any whisky booth to request a dram for a taste. As suggested that everyone should taste at least every whisky once on the first round and then proceed to their favorites. It is an unlimited tasting event after all, there’s no need to rush!🍸
Drink responsibly people!

After tasting all of the whiskys on the ground floor, we then proceed to the second floor for caviar tasting from Kaviari with maximum of 20 pax per session where we’re able to try these caviars by the spoon.
The House of Kaviari draws on 40 years of history to select the finest farmed caviars at the source. Grains are refined in its Parisian laboratories and then presented in individually-numbered tins. Each tin is unique, each caviar an invitation to pleasure, each tasting a moment of pure enjoyment, magical, sensual and unforgettable.

Ichiban Boshi at Pavilion KL

IMG-20171014-WA0038-01

Whenever anyone asks me “Any good sushi place at Bukit Bintang you’d recommend that’s really good yet affordable?” I’d just reply “Ichiban Boshi.” with a huge grin.

After visiting Yokoso Tastefully Japan (if you’ve not read about it click here), me and my homegirl Vanessa went window shopping at Pavilion and after a long walk we were craving for some hot drinks with good food which of course, we had to drop by!

We were craving for more Japanese food after all.

20171014_170540-01

Chawanmushi (RM 4.80)

To begin with, we wanted some hot appetizer. The texture of the egg custard was comforting, silky smooth, really rich in flavors and was also beautifully cooked.

Their chawanmushi was loaded with sliced shitake mushrooms, a chunk of chicken and gingko.

It makes such a lovely starter!

Their service was fantastic and staffs were absolutely hospitable. Your cup of tea will never be left empty! They’d also ensure your overall dining experience was beyond satisfactory.

Next we’ll let the photos do the talking. One thing for sure, all of them were like having a party in your mouth!

Yokoso Tastefully Japan at Sungei Wang

IMG-20171014-WA0019-01

The tastiest food fair is happening in town! Immerse yourself in the beautiful and unique Japanese culture from 5 October 2017 till 15 October 2017! Yup, I’m late again.

Anyways, I’ve been seeing food photos from this fair popping on my news feed a lot thinking it was just some regular fair where it didn’t fancy me until the photo of a model stretching the rainbow cheese sandwich convinced me so I changed my mind and thought it’d be cool to check it out for a bit since I’ll be at the city centre catching up with my bestie.

20171014_141850-01

Upon arrival, these adorable steamed buns caught our attention! Each steamed buns has either traditional or really unique fillings.

There were at least 10 types of steamed buns and they looked amazing! As we’re saving our stomach for other booths as well, we only bought 3 pieces.

RM 5 / per piece
RM 12 / 3 pieces

20171014_145344-01

Here’s what we’ve got:
Whole Chicken – Black Pepper Chicken
Panda – Red Bean Paste
Piggy – Char Siew

As they are pretty much miniature in size, their fillings aren’t that much however it tastes really delicious! The bun texture was a little dry and tough though.

Definitely worth to try!

20171014_141519-01
We then moved on to the takoyaki booth and those octopus were massive! This booth had quite a queue as visitors couldn’t take their eyes off these. You don’t really see sizes like that around here!

As the takoyaki slowly cooks its way through, the aroma around the booth smells ambrosial! We had to get ourselves some and give it a shot if it tastes bomb.

RM 11 / 3 pieces

20171014_141931-01

The Takoyaki was generously topped with katsuobushi or in English it’s called Bonito flakes and the sauce has a nice tangy and rich flavor.

As for the texture, the takoyakis weren’t evenly cooked. Some were perfectly tender while one of it was overcooked causing the octopus to be unpleasantly chewy and rubbery.

Eh, worth a try.

20171014_142827-01

Chicken Gyoza wasn’t anything to shout about because its the frozen ones you could purchase from supermarkets and convenient stores like FamilyMart.

The gyoza wrappers were tough and dried out around the top edges whilst the fillings tasted alright but weren’t piping hot. It was literally pan-frying right in front of my eyes though!

Don’t bother trying them.

RM 6 / 3 pieces

20171014_143636-01

After all the snacking we went to another booth to seek for something thirst-quenching. We ordered Blue Hawaii and Cheese Sausage with Cheese Powder from the Golden Tempura booth.

The drink was refreshing, wasn’t too sweet nor diluted. As for the cheese sausage, it was nicely egg wash and evenly breaded then deep-fried to golden perfection! Totally worth trying.

RM 10 / per set

20171014_145955-01

Finally we ended our snacking with Raindrop Cake by POPORING HOUSE 波波利屋 .

It was refreshing and we really love the brown sugar syrup and soybean flour went so well with it! The cake is tasteless just so you know.

RM 7 – Like their page on Facebook to receive RM 1 rebate!
One ringgit off better than nothing kan?

20171014_143041-01

Varieties of Japanese snacks are sold here! Can you spot Gudetama?

IMG-20171014-WA0059-01

Cosplayers roaming around to take photos with. Ah memories.

IMG-20171014-WA0028-01

My overall experience at Yokoso Tastefully Japan was alright. There were quite a number of booths that has been emptied out and the rainbow cheese sandwich was one of it as they head on to Taste Fully Food & Beverage Expo 2017 at Melaka International Trade Centre (MITC). It’s almost the last day after all.

Food and drinks were alright. The steamed buns and snacks & drinks cup were my favorite ones among all!♥♥

IMG-20171014-WA0052-01

Anyways, that was a pleasant experience. Ended it by hanging a wooden plaque.

Thank you Yokoso Tastefully Japan!

What are you waiting for? Make a visit while its still ongoing!

Nana’s Green Tea at Pavilion KL

Nana’s Green Tea has been around Kuala Lumpur for some time but I’ve never thought of dining in until today! Sorry not sorry for being late but I’m constantly on the go plus takeaways are my only option!

As per their concept, this cafe specializes in green tea and offers fine Japanese food culture and traditions as they called it “new Japanese style” to blend in our current bustling lifestyle.

To start off we went for their Every Day Set Meal that comes with a main course and beverage for only RM22.90 nett from 10:00AM to 7:00PM!

20171007_142238-01

Not sure if I’m lucky or it’s just too good to be true, but the efficiency is real. Food and drinks came flying to our table in a few minutes. Weekend peak lunch hour fyi!

Their service crews were pretty attentive and knowledgeable with what’s on their menu. Whatever we’ve ordered were recommended by a service staff as he ensured we’d definitely enjoy them.

matcha

Their Matcha Latte was really creamy, frothy and served at the right temperature.

Time to ditch the caffeine and get some antioxidant boost!

20171007_143148-01

Chicken Nanban

Chicken was nicely deep-fried to crisp perfection on the outside while it’s juicy and tender on the inside. It is then topped with tartar sauce but it’s really just some really flavorful egg mayo. On the side they’ve potato salad, fresh greens and not-so-ordinary rice.

20171007_142607-01

Karaage Curry

The karaage has an ultra crispy shell encasing a flavorful juicy bite! So yum! The curry is a little spicy, sweet & savory with a thick gravy-like texture that’s really silky & delicious!

Salmon Udon with Cream Sauce

How should I describe this?
It’s basically Spaghetti Carbonara that has been Asianized into lighter flavors and a lot milkier less creamier. The salmon fillets were pretty good with just the right texture.

20171007_142748-01 (1)

Kitsune Udon

The light, refreshing, sweet & savory flavors of this dish is so comforting. Vegetarian dishes never always got to taste bland, people.

Black Sesame Hotcake (RM19.60)

I love this! Hotcakes with amazing hints of black sesame flavors topped with whipped cream served with black sesame ice cream, red bean paste and later drizzled with brown sugar syrup.

Deconstructed dorayaki!

Overall I really did enjoyed my dining experience here with Nana’s Green Tea. However I wished they could’ve let us know about their October promo loaded with pumpkin goodies! Sigh. No worries, I’ll be making sure to make my second visit real soon.♥♥
