“Pizza & Pasta for Everyone!”

46712846_10216504732826359_2681103939771826176_n

The cravings for pizza and pasta one fine weekend hit me hard when I happened to stumble across Pizza Plus in this neighborhood. Can’t say no to pizzas and pastas!

Located in Bandar Sri Permaisuri, this little Italian pizza & pasta restaurant dedicated to serving good food at a reasonable price where they also strongly take pride in their handmade pastas and pizzas by using fresh ingredients and to ensure its always full of flavours. It sounds rather promising which leaves no room for doubts so I decided to give it a try!

46743280_10216504733066365_852814195261964288_n

Loving the open kitchen; being able to see the chef making the pizza dough from scratch was simply fascinating.

Cream of Mushroom Soup – RM 8.50

It was blended finely till grainy and slightly too watery with barely chunks of mushrooms in it. As for flavors wise, it was up to scratch. Personally I’d prefer the soup to be thicker and have some chunks in it to make it a lot more palatable which also gives texture to it.

46521555_10216504734026389_6443308331141431296_n
Aloha Pizza – (RM 14.90 Regular / RM 17.90 Large)

Tomato based with decent amount of turkey ham & pineapples. The down side were the toppings as the quality was honestly a little disappointing but for its reasonable price, it is what it is. I’ve got to admit their pizza dough was really good though; crispy and thin.

46516857_10216504733666380_381492008981626880_n
Pesto Pizza – (RM 16.90 Regular / RM 19.90 Large)

Pesto based generously topped with mushrooms & feta cheese. I do wish they put a little more onions on it to give some nice crunch to it. I’d strongly recommend this over the Aloha Pizza, its worth the value and quite delightful. Vegetarians would love this!

46646587_10216504734266395_8244345438711316480_n
Chicken Ravioli in Creamy Tomato Sauce – (RM 16.50)

I was so thrilled when I saw there’s ravioli on their menu instead of having the usual spaghetti but I was disappointed again. Ravioli dough was a little too thick causing it to turn out a little dry and there was only half teaspoon of chicken fillings in it while the sauce didn’t seems like … it was homemade. Canned tomato paste has this really distinctive flavors where you can instantly tell it isn’t homemade.

Overall experience was alright, might come back again for the Pesto Pizza but not anytime soon. Service was okay and food didn’t take too long to arrive. Then again you get what you pay for.

Not to mention they do delivery as well but within the radius of 1km only from the restaurant. Minimum order will have to be RM 30 above with a small delivery fee of RM 3. Check out their menu by clicking here!

Dim Sum by One Michelin Star Chef, Tam To Ming at Lai Po Heen, Mandarin Oriental Kuala Lumpur

44398058_10216276274475043_782294710617112576_n

Hailing from the 1-Michelin Star restaurant; Yee Tung Heen at The Excelsior Hong Kong, Chef Tam To Ming is known for his array of dainty dim sum creations that delights even the most discerning palate.

I was truly lucky to be able to sample some of his work of art this weekend as it was available for a limited time only!

Twin Gold Fish Dumplings with Chicken & Abalone Dumpling RM 48 per person

We were filled with awe when this was served. The Twin Gold Fish Dumplings were absolutely adorable! Though there weren’t much fillings in it, you can taste how fresh the ingredients were.

Other than that, the Chicken & Abalone Dumpling tasted really inviting! We had to order a few more baskets as it was based on per person basis. Highly recommended!

Kale Dumplings with Beetroot RM 28 / three pieces

One bite and the fillings crumbles into your mouth. I really enjoy the water chestnut chunks in it as it gives a little more texture not just mushy vegetables. The natural coloring from the beetroot makes it looks simply fetching.

Chicken Dumplings with Emperor Vegetables in Szechuan StyleRM 38 5 pieces

Delicate dainty dumplings bursting with flavors complemented the Szechuan sauce sublimely as it wasn’t too spicy but bearable with just the right heat.

Don’t worry, this dish does not give any numbing effect.😂

Dumplings with Diced Chicken & Dried Shrimps – RM 38 / 3 pieces

Super cute presentation making it looked like carrots growing out from a little pot. Crisp to perfection sweet glutinous rice shell stuffed with savory pork and shrimp fillings was quite delectable.

Green Tea Pancakes with Peanuts, Sesame & Coconut FlakesRM 28

This has to be my favorite dish in Chef Tam’s menu! The exterior was so crispy with rich green tea flavor along with the peanut and sesame fillings making it so much more toothsome. Highly recommended!😋

Coconut & Osmanthus JellyRM 28 / 3 pieces

For a more refreshing ending, this would be a nice cooling and healthy dessert to go for suitable for all ages. It wasn’t too sweet, the coconut milk makes it a lot more creamy and soothing.

Here’s the complete menu for Chef Tam’s ala carte dim sum menu:

Chen Chen BBQ Goose & Duck at Pudu

43745315_10216215699800714_7143065744698245120_n

During lunch hours, Chen Chen BBQ Goose & Duck is one of the few popular lunch spots and gets really packed so you may need to wait for a while to get a table. Unless you don’t mind sharing!

43951924_10216215700640735_6841282685143351296_n

The price here still remains reasonable for all and had always tasted the same since the first generation when the owner’s father started this business.

Duck & Salted Vegetables Soup

Soup of the day was delicious and simply whets one’s appetite before devouring into the star dishes! Its both salty and spicy yet flavorful from the salted vegetables and the ginger that is added.

Pork Meatballs Soup

I couldn’t help but to order some of these springy chewy meatballs as it makes a simple hearty soup extra comforting. I’m a sucker for meatballs.

Bean Sprouts topped with Fried Garlic

Some fat crunchy stubby sprouts with a dash of soy sauce and sesame oil is always the best companion for any roast meat regardless chicken or goose.

Roast Goose Leg

Here’s the greasy goodness of their mouth-watering roast goose most of the diners are here for. It was beautifully roasted with a slight gamey taste to it and still juicy on the inside.

Note: Dip them in their homemade plum sauce to make it a lot more palatable.

43951888_10216215702520782_2992041795132588032_n
Roast Duck Breast

Other than their roast goose, the roast duck was definitely finger-licking as well. I really love how the skin does not have a thick layer of chewy fat making it so much more palatable.

43762989_10216215701800764_5055341678949302272_n

Not to mention Chen Chen’s  crisp crackling roasted pork belly. Although it isn’t one of the few ‘starred dish’ to have here, its definitely still worth a try. If you didn’t noticed, there’s just a thin layer of fat on it as well.

Rojak & Cendol Ali at Taman Yarl

40524721_10215912202933482_5808146748975087616_n

Anyone who lives at or within OUG will know where to get the best rojak mamak in town. It isn’t too hard to locate the stall as you wouldn’t overlooked the crowds and queue especially during lunch hours.

Rojak Sotong | RM6.50

The ‘rojak mamak’ or Malaysian-Indian Salad consists of a base of crunchy washed and julienne vegetables, tofu, crispy fritters and hard boiled eggs topped with mouth-watering peanut sauce.

There’s just this really comforting feeling from the chunky peanut sauce that was served with piping hot complementing the rest of the condiments perfectly.

Cendol Biasa | RM2

To make this meal a little more overwhelming, ordering a bowl of cendol would cool off some of the heat. The finely shaved ice with almost melt-in-mouth texture with just the right amount ‘gula melaka’ along with the generous amount of kidney beans, cincau & cendol was simply irresistible.

40475582_10215912202693476_9176610120858075136_n

I’d strongly advise to order them as takeaways to enjoy at the comfort of your own home as there aren’t much tables there. Bare in mind during lunch hours it could take awhile to get to your orders. Patience lah deyh!

Dim Sum at Celestial Court, Sheraton Imperial Kuala Lumpur Hotel

We recently visited the newly revamped Celestial Court at Sheraton Imperial Kuala Lumpur for some delectable brunch we’ve been craving for awhile.

Dim Sum Chef Ken, never fails to tantalize the taste buds. Whether it is the simplest of Cantonese cuisine, using a harmony of ingredients and the freshest product, or a gourmet of Cantonese delights with seasonal delicacies where one can look forward to a completely divine meal.

明炉烤特色酿鸡肉干 Grilled Stuffed Honey Glazed Dried Chicken Meat with Seafood Mousse served with “Man Tou” | RM10/piece

This was one of the few most notable dish we’ve had in the restaurant. The bakkwa was definitely worth the devotion from its appearance to taste and paired beautifully with the subtle Seafood Mousse along with the ‘Man Tou’ to balance the umami.

Note: Minimum order of 2 pieces!

Mokka, who just set foot in Bukit Jalil is a newly start up cafe founded by a few kind and humble souls who cares upmost on serving great food and coffee.

This cafe is a family and kids-friendly community cafe that offers scrumptious local delicacies bridging greatness from the East and West, comes with affordable pricing, genuine and consistent quality.

Today we’re lucky to give you guys a quick sneak peak on what’s on their menu before their opening tomorrow!😁

As Warm As Toast (v) – (RM16)

As we wanted something lighter to begin with, the sautéed mushrooms were flavorful and beautifully brown on the outside, moist and juicy on the inside. Amazing deep flavors that wasn’t too overpowering with some thinly spread of cream cheese on the sliced baguette was simply refreshing.

37646402_10215607912886421_2544278049931657216_n
Golder After-Eggs – (RM22)

I personally would strongly recommend this dish as they’ve put generous amount of aromatic curry leaves to complement their handmade salted egg yolk sauce they’ve made from scratch. You get nice grainy bits of salted egg yolk as you chomp on the juicy piece of chicken chop. One bite is enough to make you crave for more!

Big Kahuna [Mokka’s Homemade Nasi Lemak] – (RM18)
There’s an option of choosing Spiced Chicken Rendang or Crispy Fried Chicken to go with your nasi lemak. Sorry there’s no Crispy Chicken Rendang here, Chef Gregg Wallace!🤷 Though I find the rendang paste a little brackish, its really tasty and paired beautifully with the rice with lovely hints of pandan. I got to love the deep-fried hard boiled egg and ‘acar’ too.😄

You can’t go wrong with these! [Mokka’s Homemade Chicken Wings] – (RM 12)
Definitely can’t go wrong with chicken wings! Light and crisp texture, barely greasy with juicy interior. There’s need not of any dips because its already mouth-watering just having it by its own. Ain’t no thang like a chicken wing.

37410070_10215607914166453_8960517186481291264_n
Local Sweet Potato Balls -(RM6/3 pieces)

I’ve got the admit the chefs did an excellent job in deep-frying their food without leaving a greasy-aftertastes. These simple yet humble snacks are loved by many for its crispy exterior with soft and fluffy interior.

Mokka’s Signature – (RM14)

You’ve got to order this while you’re there! It wasn’t too sweet as there was a perfect balance of cocoa, espresso and milk topped with thick milk foam and carefully drizzled with honey then brûlée.

Enjoy with a kick start your journey with Mokka, though it may be a small and cozy cafe, who knows they may be on a stepping stone to be the next best community cafe!

Restoran Dragon Star has been around for over a decade in this big neighborhood and always been the family restaurant to go for. The restaurant also focuses more on authentic Cantonese cooking. Keepin’ it real!

Here are some of the highlighted dishes on what we had for dinner:

37321576_10215570200303630_2300417219978330112_n
鹽煙沙薑雞 Smoked Kampung Chicken – RM30/half bird , RM60/whole bird

Free-ranged chicken beautifully marinated in Sand Ginger Powder, giving it a better texture to chomp on. Taste wise its almost like having Salt-baked Chicken except you get to enjoy the skin a lot more.😛

清蒸游水順殼魚 Live Steamed Marble Goby in Light Soy Sauce – Seasonal Price

I absolutely love Chinese-style steamed fish (fresh-from-the-tank) with soy sauce as it lends the fish sweet and salty flavors. The chef also taught us how to identify if the fish was frozen or from the tank based on its texture. Frozen fish brought to steamed would still look the same while fresh from the tank would look eh, distorted?🤷

檸香焗明蝦 Stir-fried Prawns in Homemade Lemon Mayo Sauce – Seasonal Price

The prawns were tender and springy in texture and beautifully coated in their finger-licking homemade mayo sauce with a hint of zest making it an absolute refreshing dish.

Highly recommended for prawn lovers!🍤❤

燒焗排骨支 Grilled Pork Ribs – RM23/small , RM46/large

Pork ribs were absolutely flavorful & well marinated served with crispy vegetable fritters. Its almost like having char siew except you get to indulge the juicy tender meat and fat so much more.

It was quite a crowd-pleasing dish to go for.

紅燒羊腩煲 Braised Lamb Belly – RM27/small RM54/large

The lamb was deliciously braised till tender and gravy was simply rich and flavorsome plus generously filled with dried bean curd and mixed vegetables making it so much better.

This simple hearty dish will have you feeling delightful and comforting.

蝦子鍋仔豆腐 Braised Homemade Tofu with Shrimps & Seasonal Vegetables -RM18/small , RM27/large

Dishes after dishes of meat, its fair to have some braised tofu and seasonal vegetables to have a little balance in our body.😂 The sauce was really appetizing, it makes you just want to top it on some plain rice. Not to mention the generous amount of fresh vegetables in this pot!

Bring your family & friends over, its definitely worth dining for! My personal favorite dish from this restaurant has to be the fish. What’s yours?

EB16 – Pork Katsu (Deep-fried Pork Cutlet)

Personally I’d recommend these few dishes; the Buta Kakuni (Stewed Pork Belly) was ridiculously flavorful also has a perfectly balanced sweet and savory flavor to it. Not so Japanese, but it doesn’t matter!😂 Most importantly its super soft in texture. The Pork Katsu (Deep-fried Pork Cutlet) was crispy and golden brown outside, tender and juicy within. Ebi Teppan (Pan-fried Prawn with Garlic Butter Sauce) will definitely be loved by ones who enjoy garlicky dishes. Their Salmon Teriyaki (Grilled Salmon with Teriyaki Sauce) and Wakadori Karaage (Deep-fried Marinated Chicken) aren’t too bad as well, that’s if you don’t mind the portion.

You should consider bringing your friends, family and even your colleagues over here for lunch! To spill the beans, there might be a really special promo happening on their restaurant’s anniversary and you wouldn’t want to miss it!🤫

Lunch at Tao Chinese Cuisine, Intercontinental Kuala Lumpur

“Tao”, which means peach in Mandarin, is the new restaurant located on level one of the hotel and is immediately recognizable with a vibrant design using the bloom of the pale pink April peach flowers as a signature motif and a spectacular cloud-like inspired ceiling giving an impression of dining under the stars.

It was a pleasant dining experience for us to have Dim Sum Chef at Tao Chinese Cuisine, Chef Lo Tian Sion (羅天送) to savour in his toothsome dim sum made from premium quality ingredients.

20180131_121426-01
鲍鱼虾饺 Steamed Abalone Prawns “har kow” (RM 38)

The diced abalone was soft and barely chewy while prawns were so fresh and crunchy!

20180131_121459-01
帶子烧卖 Steamed Scallops “siew mai” (RM 19)

Siew Mai is one of my favorite food in the world! Lol Scallop was also soft and not even close to being overcooked giving it a nice melt in mouth-like texture.

20180131_121411-01
蜜汁叉烧鸡包 Steamed Diced Barbecued Chicken Bun (RM 14)

Bun texture was really fluffy while luscious filling of sweet ‘char siew’.

20180131_122313-01
腐皮芝士虾 Deep-fried Bean Curd Cheese Prawn Rolls (RM 20)

This was really addicting! It was deep-fried to crispy perfection stuffy with gooey cheese.

20180131_122223-01
软壳蚧肠粉 Rice Noodle Rolled with Fried Soft Shell Crab (RM 28)

Silky and smooth on the outside, crunchy and scrumptious inside! The sauce complemented with it very well. Loss of words on how spectacular this dish was!

20180131_122124-01
香葱虾米肠粉 Pan-fried Rice Noodle Rolled with Dried Shrimps & Spring Onions (RM 16)

The rice noodle has a nice light crisp from pan-frying and the dried shrimps made it extra flavorful.

20180131_122826-01
Wok-fried Egg Noodles with Chicken Strips, Salted Egg Yolk, Beansprout, Onions, Sesame Seeds and Chili Sauce (RM 48)

At first glance it may look like any other regular wok-fried egg noodles but when it comes to taste it was extravagant. The salted egg yolk was evenly coated on the noodles giving it some nice salty creamy eggy flavors. As the sesame seeds were wok-fried along with the noodles, it really does brings out the oomph of this dish.

20180131_123644-01
Stir-fried Seasonal Vegetables (RM 42)

Thick chunks of asparagus beautifully stir-fry with garlic was so juicy, crunchy and flavorful. Have you ever had vegetables that were so addictive?

20180131_131043-01
Chilled Aloe Vera, Peach and Osmanthus Oolong Tea Syrup (RM 26)

After a luscious meal, having this was so soothing and refreshing.

20180131_132421-01
Deep-fried Sweet Potato “Ninko” (RM 18 / 3 pieces)

Super adorable “ninko” in disguise as mandarins. You’d get some sweetness from the sweet potato and gooey gooness from the “ninko” with some slight crispiness on the outside deep-fried to golden perfection.

If you’re looking forward on planning a Chinese New Year gathering, you should check out their menus and offers on their page right here!

Frozen roasted pork belly is available to be purchased as well. Perfect for home-cooked pork dishes!

Price may be above average but it’s the premium quality you’re paying for. Would definitely return for more of its pork-tastic dishes!
