Bubur Lambuk Beratur

They’ll also be featuring the all-time favorites such as Nasi Ayam & Itik. Warung Satay, the must-have porridge dish at any Ramadan feast, the Bubur Lambuk Beratur.

The chicken tasted really homely you wouldn’t believe how delicious and satisfying this dish was.

Roasted Duck was absolutely flavorful and moist. What I love about the duck was the fact that the skin was barely chewy and simply delicious.

Their satays has always been my favorite in their buffets. They’ve marinated the both chicken and beef thoroughly it gets really addicting after a few skewers. Grab the chicken satays first because it runs out real quick!🤭🤭

As you know Bubur Lambuk is a quintessential porridge meal especially during the month of Ramadan that makes it such a hearty meal. I was hooked with it and the condiments make it even better. Salted egg is life.

Diners will be in for a succulent treat with this specially prepared rendang dish which will be available daily on the buffet spread for Ramadan. Definitely won’t be crispy.

Dian Huo Xin Wo 点火心窝 at The Grand – Kelana Damansara Suite

Having steamboat for Chinese New Year is the easiest and best way to feast when you have a group of family and relatives coming together. The simmering steamboat also represents the tradition to strengthen family bonding and sharing happiness. Who wouldn’t love having steamboat after all?

27066805_1983018245072377_5763208784285069569_n

Dian Huo Xin Wo 点火心窝 is having a spectacular dinner package that your family, relatives and you may love! Their DHXW CNY 2018 Dinner Package price is RM 688 fit for 6-8 pax! Don’t worry about the pax, you could order add-ons.

Here’s what they’ll be serving in this package:

20180201_195332-01

20180201_195756-01
Yee Sang with DHXW Special Ingredients and Sauce

Instead of using regular plum sauce for the ‘yee sang’, they’re using Dragonfruit Juice!
A very delightful and fruity prosperity toss for another fruitful year ahead!

20180201_202045-01
DHXW Fresh Crustaceans Roe Soup

Starts off with a lighter taste but once you get all the seafood in the soup it gets richer and richer you’d probably need to order some Rice Vermicelli ‘mee hoon’ to enjoy more of the soup.

20180201_202016-01
Seafood Platter – 8 Abalones, 8 Half Shelled Fresh Sea Scallops, 8 Large Prawns, 8 Pacific Clams & 2 Crabs
20180201_202028-01
Tiger Prawns / 8 pieces
20180201_201928-01
Fortune Fresh Squid Ball / 8 pieces
20180201_201955-01
DHXW Whole Pomfret Fish / 2 pieces

If you’re dining in as 8 pax, you’d only get to have each of everything on the plate and split the crabs and Promfet unless one of them are willing to spare theirs to you but I’ve got to admit their seafood is ridiculously fresh! My personal favorite has to be the scallops and the tiger prawns.

20180201_201936-01
Vegetables

Every time I go to any steamboat eateries, vegetables is a must! Especially corns.
Plop them into the pot and they’d sweetened the soup!

To wrap it up, this is what they’re serving for their dinner package. If you feel that it isn’t going to fill up your belly or you’ve got family and relatives who aren’t too fond with seafood, order some meat then! Forget about the diet, you’ve got to love festive meals.

20180201_211513-01
Millennium Pork Loin (RM 20.15)
20180201_211525-01
U.S. Wagyu Rib Eye Steak (RM 47.70)
20180201_211544-01
Springy Crystal Fish Ball (RM 9)

DHXW Taro Ball (RM 9)
20180201_211554-01
DHXW Golden Egg Pork Ball (RM 10.10)

These handmade meatballs are seriously one of a kind. You probably won’t be able to get something this premium in other eateries. Highly recommended!

You know Chinese New Year is close when you start seeing jars of sweets and cookies everywhere you go! Can’t wait to see what’s on their menu.

20180111_122736-01

We’d be trying 7 dishes on their tasting menu and everything sounds spectacular. This is going to be exciting!

Prosperous Salmon & Snow Pear Yee Sang with Fresh Fruits and Crispy Katafi with Plus Dressing

Fruity yee sang for a fruitful New Year, I love it! The crispy katafi brings it to a whole different level and it’s also really refreshing to have a fruity twist instead of the usual Chinese new year raw fish salad.

20180111_130853-01
Poached Golden Seafood Broth with Wild River Prawn, Alaska Scallop and Crabmeat

The broth was really warm and rich in flavours! Its a really comforting soup that’s quite filling but its light and refreshing at the same time. The Alaska Scallop was soft and chewy with some sweetness to it, Wild River Prawn has a nice firm texture and crabmeat was delicious.

20180111_132405-01

20180111_132658-01
Chicken prepared in Two Varieties

The sweet and sour chicken are often loved by all. Light crisp from the skin, meat was moist and the sauce was just right as it wan’t too sweet, sour nor even drowning the chicken in sauce! Some restaurant pours way too much sauce over it.

20180111_133944-01

20180111_134532-01
Steamed Pearl Loong Fu Pan Fish with Minced Garlic Chili Sauce

I’ve got to admit nothing will ever tastes better than having this with a bowl of white rice topped with some of the minced garlic chili sauce. Fish was so moist and firm, garlic chili sauce was really aromatic with some nice heat to it.

20180111_135744-01

20180111_140000-01
Braised 10 Headed Abalone with Sha Jing in Cucumber Ring

As dazzling and elegant as it looks, the abalone and oysters were braised till packed with flavours. The broccoli was really crunchy and delicious!

20180111_141100-01

20180111_141543-01
Steamed Waxed Duck Meat Glutinous Rice

It is an essential to have ‘lap mei’ rice during Chinese New Year which often serves at the end of the meal before desserts are served. The meat was still flavorful and the glutinous rice was soft and a little chewy texture to it.

20180111_142718-01
Ginger Flavoured ‘Tang Yuen’

Never has to be Winter Solstice to enjoy some heartwarming ‘tang yuen’, these glutinous balls were so juicy and soft that it will literally explode in your mouth. The sugar soup was the best, it has strong ginger flavors with just the right amount of sweetness.

The meal didn’t just stopped here, we were spoiled with the varietal of sweets served at the buffet counter!

Here’s a sneak peek on what we had!

20180109_192321-01

20180109_191557-01
Deluxe Yee Sang with Salmon (RM118/half portion or RM 228/whole portion)

Beautiful thinly sliced sashimi salmon with almost melt-in-mouth texture. Perfect way to start off the wonderful dinner with some prosperity toss. There’s an option for Fruity Fiesta or Jellyfish as well.

If you’re looking for something for more exclusive, they’ve got Premium Yee Sang and there’s an 3 options!
– Sea Cucumber, Abalone & Pseudo Shark’s Fin
– Abalone, Jellyfish, Scallop, Salmon & Lobster
– Mini Abalone

Oh, the yee sang above is part of the set we’re having which is Happiness Set, serving 9 dishes at the price of RM 1788 for 10 persons. Don’t worry, the yee sang could be ordered as ala carte.

27500536_10214293379743914_3968773478751558985_o
Braised Five Treasure Soup with Crab Meat & Sliced Abalone

This delicious and shark-friendly alternative is flavorsome that warms our heart to belly. I really enjoy the chunks in the soup giving some texture to it.

20180109_201741-01
Crispy Almond Chicken

You get that nice crunch of almonds at the bottom of the chicken and light crisp from the chicken skin paired with some crackers on the side while the meat is still relatively soft.

20180109_202414-01
Steamed Live Sea Grouper with Sliced Ginger & Chili

What I love about this dish is the ginger paste on top of the fish topped with coriander. The steamed fish takes on the flavor and fragrance of the ginger and spring onions. The fish itself was beautifully cooked and still firm and moist.

20180109_202011-01
Sauteed Golden Prawns with Pumpkin Cream

Sinful and irresistible prawn dish loved by many! Savory from the salted egg yolk and sweetness from the pumpkin are indeed a perfect match for the bouncy and firm textured prawns.

20180109_202740-01
Sun-dried Oysters, Fatt Choy, Flower Mushrooms & Vegetables

The mushrooms are cooked to soft and tender and dried oysters were chewy and flavorful. Whenever there’s a family occasion and this dish is on the table, I’d take spoonful of the sauce and drizzled them over my bowl of rice because there’s just something magical about it.

20180109_203251-01
Supreme Seafood Golden Fried Rice with X.O. Sauce

X.O. sauce really brings the fried rice to a whole different level. There’s a nice heat to the fried rice, not too spicy but really palatable.

20180109_210347-01
Double Boiled Sweetened Chrysanthemum Tea with Pear, Red Date & Aloe Vera

Sweet, refreshing and nourishing. I love the aloe vera chunks in this delightful ‘tong sui’.

20180109_210230-01
Dynasty’s Fortune Pastries

‘Nian Gao’ to be enjoyed both ways. Deep-fried to crispy golden perfection and gooey inside or steamed and coated with coconut flakes. I personally enjoyed the fried ‘nian gao’ because there’s sliced yam in it which complemented it so well.

CNY Takeaways at Three Brothers Restaurant 三兄弟

Chinese New Year is just around the corner and the thought of finding a venue and making reservations for the big day, it’s going to be tough to book a table especially at popular eateries. Even if you do, the restaurant would probably be loud and overcrowded with screaming kids, other tables cheering their way to a prosperous new year and you’d probably have to yell at each other across the table throughout the dinner. That’s not so nice isn’t it? Wouldn’t it be easier if you could enjoy exclusive meals in the comfort of your home?

Three Brothers Restaurant got you covered! In fact, takeaways are encouraged.

Not to mention, you could check out their reunion dinner package over here!

20180125_202327-01.jpg
Yee Sang (RM 48/half portion RM 58/whole portion)

Don’t be fooled by its texture, some people would’ve looked at it and assumed the yee sang looks really dry but believe me, its ridiculously fresh and moist. Price above does not includes the sliced Norwegian salmon, fish roe and such. I love how the fish roe gives the popping sensation as you have a mouthful. Crab legs were firm and sweet and the salmon was simply spectacular. Feel free to add-on for a more prosperous toss!

Chef Special’s Steamed Rice (RM 8/piece)

Most of us would’ve skipped this dish because we’d be too stuffed for carbs but nope, not this one. It’s packed individually per person with just the right portion and getting to enjoy little bits of each elements in the dish. It’s surprisingly light, not too salty nor sweet.

New Year’s Eve Reunion & Spring Packages 除夕团圆套餐 新春套餐 at Three Brothers Restaurant 三兄弟

Chinese New Year reunion dinners never always has to be in fancy restaurants and hotels but somewhere around your neighborhood works the same. Here in Three Brothers Restaurant, you’d be able to enjoy premium quality dishes and probably dishes you wouldn’t expect to have it here at all!

20180108_194503-01
Yee Sang (RM 48/half portion RM 58/whole portion)

The Prosperity Toss was really refreshing. None of the elements on this plate were dry at all. Yes I know there’s probably nothing much to boast about yee sang because ‘it all tasted the same’ but not here …

20180108_194320-01
Deep Fried Fish Skin (RM 12)
20180108_194349-01
Red Clam Sashimi (RM 24) & Salmon Sashimi (RM 24)

20180108_195126-01

Voila! The fish skin was crispy almost like having potato chips but a much healthier option. Salmon sashimi was ridiculously fresh and has a melt-in-mouth texture while the Red Clam or Akagai sashimi has a nice mild, subtle taste.

20180108_200722-01

20180108_200509-01
Double Boiled Geoduck Soup (RM 176)

This soup is loaded with goodies! Sliced geoduck, fish maws, muhsrooms, half chicken and many more! It tasted much sweeter and flavorful as the soup releases the flavors from the ingredients gradually.

20180108_202746-01
Garlic Onion Steamed Grouper (RM 188)

It may not be a pretty but strange-looking fish but it is absolutely aromatic, delicious, and not greasy at all. What I love about grouper fish is that you get to enjoy more of the fish not needing to worry much of the bones. The sauce is what makes this dish even better!

20180108_210532-01
Iberico Platter (RM 380)

Who would’ve expected a Hispanic-Portuguese inspired European dish in a Chinese restaurant which was definitely one of the show-stopping dish in the menu! This dish is often served as a dinner centerpiece in Spain. It’s like Roasted Turkey for Christmas!

20180108_210513-01
Roasted Iberico Ribs

These intensely juicy and succulent pork with superior flavor these has an excellent meat-to-bone ratio which makes them so immensely satisfying as well as exquisite.

20180108_210138-01
Iberico de Cebo served with Rock Melon & Caviar

Deliciously cured Iberian ham in beautifully marbled and deep red in color. It also has a nice smooth fat with low melting point giving it a very aromatic with a long-lasting flavor, and a creamy, melting sensation in your mouth.

20180108_210245-01
Pan Fried Iberico Collar

Taste as good as the ribs but more on a leaner and tougher texture. This delicious pork platter really does brings the authentic flavors of inland Spain to your dining table.

20180108_204754-01
Money Bag served with Braised Fish Maw (RM 180)

More fish maws! I really enjoyed the chewy texture and how it perfectly absorbed the sauce. Oh did you know the money bag represents wealth and prosperity? Except its stuffed with minced pork and black fungus.🤣

20180108_212644-01
Scallops & Prawns in Truffle Sauce served with Assorted Vegetables (RM 98)

Impressively rich in delicate flavors from the prawns and scallops along with the black truffle. I really love the crunch of the vegetables which gives some texture to it.

20180108_212939-01
Crab Meat Fried Rice topped with Tobiko (RM 60)

You know its a good fried rice when you get that oomph on your first bite. The fried rice is filled ‘wok hei’ and you get that nice popping sensation going on in your mouth as you get some of the tobiko or fish roes.

20180108_215336-01
Alcohol-free Tiramisu topped with Chocolate Sauce and Gold Leaves (RM 60)

What makes this tiramisu so special? No, it’s not because its topped with gold leaves. This tiramisu flew all the way from Italy! And the taste wise, it is squisito regardless there’s no alcohol contain in it. I really love how the coconut flakes played along with the Tiramisu!

Chinese New Year “Fortune” Set Menu at Palace of The Golden Horses

received_10203976670734852-01

Chinese New Year is one of the biggest celebration on Earth as it is the time of the year where family and friends would gather together as they mark the start to the New Year with prosperity and good luck.

In line with the upcoming Chinese New Year, award-winning Kim Ma Restaurant at the Palace of The Golden Horses will be more than please to have Chef Chris Lim and his team to present their (3) set menus with price starting from RM1088 nett/10 pax that will be taking the center-stage throughout the month of January to February 2018.

received_10203976670614849-01

Anyways, this post is a little special to me because I wasn’t around for a week as I was in Singapore and my dad went for the media review on my behalf to share his dining experience. Who’s dad actually does that? I’m so grateful.😂😂
Just so you know, all the pictures and opinions were taken from my dad.

As part of the set menu, you may make your choice of Norwegian Salmon and Top Shell Prosperity Yee Sang or the Kim Ma’s Signature Double Hot & Cold Appetizer Combinations to begin with however we went straight for the 6 main courses and desserts so I’ll leave that to you to explore.

Double-boiled Minced Chicken Broth with Superior Fish Maw and Shimeji Mushrooms

It was a very clear, intense broth packed with flavors and the aroma was wonderful with some lovely hints of fish maw. As it is believed chicken broth is to restore and renew the body’s energy, this is excellent for all ages.

received_10203976624173688-01
Cantonese-styled Smoked Salted Free-Range Chicken

The chicken was lightly salted with just the right amount of salt. You’d also get a beautifully golden brown and nice light crisp from the skin while the meat was juicy and tender. There’s need not to explain why it is the signature dish.

received_10203976627333767-01
Traditional Steamed River Catfish with Superior Soy Sauce

As you know Chinese Lunar New Year is full of significance, and one of the most important dishes is a whole fish. It symbolizes plentiful prosperity for this year and the next. The fish was fresh and has a nice soft texture to it.

received_10203976629333817-01
Stir-fried Large Tiger Prawns with Special Mongolian Sauce

The prawns were beautifully coated with butter and stir-fried with black pepper coarse giving a nice heat to it. There’s this amazing crunchy, firm and crisp texture when you first bite into the prawn that makes one craves for more. This is also one of their signature dishes.

received_10203976633293916-01
Mushroom Dumplings with Seasonal Green Vegetables in Pumpkin Sauce

Among the 6 main courses, this was my dad’s favorite. These cute little dumplings were wrapped with bean curd skin with minced mushroom fillings served with perfectly blanched broccolis and pumpkin sauce below it.

received_10203976633973933-01
Steamed Mini Glutinous Rice in Lotus Leaf

It tasted almost like ‘lo mai gai’ we’d often have in our regular dim sum restaurants except it isn’t steamed with chicken but duck meat! The aroma of the lotus leaves instantly oomph into your nostril, the glutinous rice was nice, chewy and a mouthful of hearty feeling having this. And did I mention there’s salted egg in it as well?😏 Something new for your taste buds perhaps?

received_10203976637014009-01
Double-boiled Pineapple and Water Chestnut with Peach Jelly
received_10203976638374043-01
Sweet Fancy Duet

Like every other meals, all’s well end’s well with some delectable desserts! I know most of us would usually skip the desserts during such extensive meals but the portions were just right for each and everyone!😄

Both desserts weren’t too sweet, Double-boiled Pineapple and Water Chestnut with Peach Jelly ‘tong sui’ was really refreshing with some diced pineapples and peach jelly to munch on giving some nice texture while the Sweet Fancy Duet was adequate.

received_10203976627413769-01

If the set menu isn’t what you’re looking for, there’s also a wide selections of ‘yee sang’ starting from RM 72 nett onwards!

Thank you once again, Chef Chris Lim for the advance Chinese New Year meal.

Client Exclusive Luncheon at KL Convention Centre

Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre,  located at the heart of the city centre surrounded by luxurious business hotels, shopping centres and of course greeted by the spectacular view of the Petronas Twin Towers.

The main reason we’re here was for the luncheon that was designed to showcase its Special 8-course Chinese New Year banquet menu and guests were also given a sneak preview of the Centre’s expansion. The Centre’s award-winning 50-strong culinary team, helmed by Executive Chef Hisham Bin Jaafar, continually explore local produce, euro and asian cooking traditions as well as ingredients that can be tastefully combined into tailor-made menus that cater to the needs and dietary requirements of multicultural and multi-ethnic delegates and visitors.

welcome drink
Upon arrival, an absolutely refreshing glass of hibiscus juice with a dash of lemon juice as the welcome drink were served to us complementing the soothing music performance as we mingle around waiting for the doors to be open.

table setting

The table setups reminded me so much of when I was in my first year of college we would be assigned by our lecturers to work in hotels around the city for any banquet functions.

Feeling unease and intimidated at the beginning but after we settled down at our table and looking at the menu, I can’t wait for the luncheon to begin!

Chef Hisham bin Jaafar, Executive Chef and Chef Andrew Lee, Chinese Master Chef then further explained the menu that captures the exquisite balance in combining contemporary taste with traditional dishes. A banquet of distinction, the 8-course Chinese menu at RM1600++ per table of 10 guests, will be available for booking from 3 October 2017, and any booking confirmed before 30 November 2017 will enjoy the same rate for a 2018 booking for this special 8-course Chinese menu!

5 happiness

To begin with, our starter was the Five Happiness Combination PlatterI’d always go for the fried ones regardless! The chicken on lemongrass skewer was one of my favorite.

seafood chowder

Moving on to soup, we’ve got Seafood Chowder with Silken Beancurd and Enoki Mushroom.
To be honest I was a little bit worried if it has strong fishy flavors as I’m never much of a fan of seafood but I’ll have to take back my words on this one because it was absolutely stunning! Texture of the soup wasn’t thick and gooey, it was really light and easy to have. It was so good I had two bowls of it HA!

chicken

Roasted Sesame Chicken with Five Spice Salt! Need I say more!?
Crispy-like skin and juicy meat – everything is on point on this dish! Oh I must say the chef who portioned the chicken did a really good job!

fish

Deep-fried Fish Fillets with Portuguese style Turmeric and Ginger Sauce was so flavorful and delicious!
Takes me back to Malacca where the Portuguese Settlement is and there used to be a stall that makes really good grilled stingray with the similar sauce.

prawn

Stir-fry Prawn with Shrimp Paste enhanced with Curry Spice Kum Heong style.
Ah yes, the rich golden fragrance! It was so tasty and aromatic.

veg

Braised San Ken Beancurd Dumpling with Bailing Mushroom and Broccoli Florets.
I really did enjoyed the broccoli crisp-tender texture!

rice

Wok-fried Rice with Shredded Cuttlefish and Silver Anchovies.
We were stuffed and this was our 7th course but regardless how stuffed we were we couldn’t resist the aroma of the fried rice.
dessert

Last but not least, we’ve come to an end of the wonderful 8-course menu, Chilled Honeydew Melon with Pearl Sago. It could’ve been better but there’s a little too much ice which cause it to lose its sweetness.

yee sang 2

Ha what’s Chinese New Year without a toss for prosperity?
The Centre is offering a Chinese New Year in-house “Yee Sang” from RM188++ for a 10-persons fresh salmon platter to complement the Chinese New Year Banquet Menu!
Just look how pretty those salmons are!

20171003_175959-01

It was an amazing luncheon and opportunity indeed! Can’t wait for more food-ventures awaiting for me!
